I am not a client of Clowes & Co, thankfully, but they are acting for the sellers in my previous property purchase, and dealing with them has been an absolute nightmare. If I could give zero, I would. There have been months of delay and zero meaningful communication, holding up the registration of my property with the Land Registry since June 2024. My own solicitors have called, emailed, and left voicemails repeatedly, yet Clowes & Co have failed to respond or take action. Merely stating 'someone will deal with it'. Their lack of professionalism and urgency has now caused me serious financial stress and has delayed the sale of my current home, as my property still isn’t registered. This situation is completely unacceptable and shows a total disregard for the impact their inaction has on others. Workloads aside or restructures, when a transaction is this time sensitive, any competent firm should be capable of basic communication and follow up. Based on my experience, I would strongly urge anyone considering instructing this firm to think twice.

I have had the great displeasure of being involved in a chain where Clowns have been acting and their complete lack of any communication is only matched by their complete lack of concern for other people. If you are hoping to delay your transaction then this is the firm for you. Nothing will happen with any urgency and don't expect anyone to talk to you.

Ultimately the sales transaction completed so success..... During the course of the conveyancing communication from Clowes was poor and simple enquiries unanswered. There was a lack of continuity with information previously provided requested a second time and acknowledged as "found" once questioned. The overall impression was one of an under resourced department struggling with a work load and becoming inefficient. When speaking to the individuals they were without exception pleasant, friendly and positive people. Perhaps with a workload at a level they could handle they would have been excellent?

Do not trust this company. A terrible company who are quite happy to lie in the emails and lie in meetings to their clients face. Luckily, I have proof of their deception, and the legal ombudsman has been informed and will soon be on their tracks. For those who follow my reviews, you can see I seldomly give bad reviews. However. This company has provided the worst experience I have ever had with any business in my life and is an example of why you should never trust a solicitor.

I've used Clowes & Co to handle my Will and I'm now using their conveyancing service. Staff are lovely and friendly, and the process is going well. Great service, great solicitors! Recommend!
