Worst solicitor ever. Unresponsive, slow, selfish… it took almost 6 months for Daniel Lindon at Elliot Mather Nottingham to do the conveyancing of what was supposed to be a simple easy chain of 2 properties and 3 parties! Besides, his unprofessional behaviour impacted everybody: not only us and our buyers (we all suffered stress and stress related illnesses) but also our own solicitors (who never managed to speak to Daniel Lindon during the whole process!), and the real estate agents (one of them even has now decided not to deal with customers using Elliot Mather as their solicitor, which says it all!). We can’t believe we are finally out of this nightmare! But, after all this time, we have now lost the dream house we wanted to buy…

Can’t speak highly enough of Carmen. A great conveyancer who was a pleasure to deal with and always easy to get hold. She was efficient and took care of our house buy excellently. Use Carmen and Eliot Mather with confidence.

Elliot Mather Solicitors have been excellent in helping me buy my first home. I needed this mortgage to go through asap and they made it possible that I moved in 3 weeks after viewing the house!!! This was outstanding, as mortgages usually take 2-3 months. Special thanks to Jayde and Chloe, who went above and beyond to be so efficient and move the case forward as soon as updates were available. I’ve been told to “chase up my solicitors every other day”, but I had no chance to do that, because I was receiving updates almost daily! I would highly recommend this to anyone, and I will 100% be a returning customer :)

We were first time buyers with no chain and the sellers also had no chain. It should have been a fairly smooth transaction but it took almost 6 months to complete. We watched with growing frustration as other people around us purchased houses moved in months before us. Apart from a delay due to probate I would attribute most of the delays to Elliot Mathers poor handling and organisation.They are unprofessional, dishonest and arrogant at times. Multiple times myself and our estate agent caught them out with conflicting stories on why things were taking so long. The draft contract sat in their inbox for 3 weeks until we realised that the only way to get any action was to repeatedly phone and hassle them every week. Their communication skills are awful and many times I was told I would get a call back or an email and never did. They also had an email account from which they sent emails but claimed the inbox was full so if you reply, it won't get read. This was proven to be true multiple times as both our estate agent and the sellers solicitor had issues contacting them as well as myself. Three times I had to send proof of funds. The first time I sent it via email to which they did not respond. Then I sent it by post as a signed delivery only to be told they had not received it. I sent it a third time by email before they acknowledged it. I appreciate that times are very busy and they are managing many accounts but it does not excuse poor customer service or bad attitudes. They missed 2 completion dates that were set and as first time buyers it made us very anxious and fearful that the sale might fall through. Elliot Mather did nothing to put our minds at ease and never apologised or admitted any fails on their part even when challenged with evidence. If this was a chain I have no doubt it would have collapsed and I feel bad for anyone who might be renting and have specific dates they need to work to. These people are unreliable and unprofessional and most likely you would end up extending your rental contract and being out of pocket. Buying your first home is supposed to be an exciting time but for us it became so stressful it took away from our joy because of how badly it has been handled. I am surprised we made it to completion.
