First thing you will notice about this firm is their entrance security. its fortified, after dealing with them you will understand why. So this firm told me they could handle my property purchase and it would be complete in 8 weeks. i had constantly chase them, now i was assigned a person that was said to be handling my case. I never spoke to this person on the phone because "she was in a meeting" and every time i went to the office she was on a "lunch break" when we hit the 7 week mark i demanded to have update as there was only 1 week left. I was then sent a email telling me they where no longer going to represent me, reason for this was i had failed to properly fill in one form i had given to them in person 13 days earlier. That was it game over no reasoning with them nothing. when i said it was disgusting to pull out so close to the end without even allowing me to re file the form, the person i was speaking to laughed, saying it was no where near close to the end. I told them completion was supposed to be within 8 weeks. they told me that they don't do it that fast. I said i had it in writing. I demanded to know if the person i had been assigned actually existed, they replied of course, and that the reason they had been slow with their work and the reason i had never seen them or been able to speak to them was because they had ..... CANCER. Ill leave it up to you guys to decide if you think that's believable or not. in the end they cost a lot of money and a lot of time. Be warned.

An excellent service for conveyancing. Sarah from the Heswall office was so helpful with our buying and selling properties. She was very proactive in contacting us and keeping us informed at every stage. Any query we had was answered promptly. We would not hesitate to use GWL again and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Have had the misfortune of having to deal with this solicitors since the passing of my Mum. She was guided to GWL by the free wills service as she was terminally ill and wanted to update her will. The changes made I’d already said I’d ensure would be done so it wasn’t necessary and GWL updated her will days before her death. When I called to let them know they straight away offered to complete probate as they held the original will, and said they’d quote me for it. The quote was much higher than I could afford and they said it would be taken straight out of the estate. As it’s not a large or complicated estate I declined and then they said I needed to pay to retrieve the will which they’d had for less than 2 weeks. Said that my mum had agreed to this (12 pages of small Ts and Cs she wouldn’t have been able to read). Most other firms I have spoken to have said they don’t charge to retrieve a will as it’s a document I as the executor am entitled to and need otherwise it’s an impediment to probate. I asked GWL nicely if as this was done so last minute could they kindly overturn the £120 fee they want as I am struggling with multiple estate management fees and they have repeatedly turned this down leading me to seek to make a formal complaint and also try to stop any other families falling into their quite openly predatory trap to gain money. A complaint has been submitted to Marie curie who made the recommendation to the free wills service and also to the free wills service. I will also be taking this to the ombudsman so that GWL may hopefully review their convulse administrative practices that also makes no provision for executors/relatives living away from the area since they not only expect £120 from me but also for me to go in person and thus incur travel costs and parking to retrieve the will in person with 3 unique original forms of ID. I’d understand if she’d had a lot to leave but she didn’t and I’m the main beneficiary. Their absolute unwillingness to help troubleshoot their poor policies, and abysmal quality of writing shocks me how they ever get clients anyway as my name is constantly spelt wrong, as are words in what should be professionally delivered and reviewed documents. Maybe this is why they’re so desperate for £120. If you’ve got this far do yourselves a favour and avoid this solicitors at all costs and tell your sick relatives to do the same!

Have used them for conveyancing of two property sales now and both times was glad of the responsiveness and thoroughness compared to poor experience elsewhere. Very happy with the service and would definitely use again. Special thanks to Wendy - you're a star!

We have been using the services of GWL for over 3 years now and what a difference it has made to our business. I know 4 years ago my thoughts were how can a solicitors can help my business, now I think how could we live without. The support is amazing, communication outstanding and knowledge of our circumstances was fantastic. We feel confident growing as a company knowing that we have got the support from the GWL and especially Michael. Thank you very much, truly is a pleasure to leave this review.
