Extremely poor service from Kim Doig at Hammons Solicitors, who acted for our buyer. The handling of this transaction has been incompetent and has put my sale in jeopardy for months. We were initially advised that they were on the buyer’s mortgage lender’s panel, only for them to later “discover” that they were not. This alone caused significant delay. They then took an excessive amount of time to reapply to the panel, only to be rejected again. Worse still, Kim advised that another firm could act as an intermediary for the transfer of funds, which turned out to be completely false. Her response when challenged was, “I assumed they could…” — assuming is not acceptable when you are acting as a legal professional. It is your responsibility to know, not guess. The lack of due diligence, poor advice, and repeated delays have dragged this sale on unnecessarily and caused significant stress and risk. As someone who works locally in the property sector, I will be advising my clients to avoid using Hammons Solicitors going forward. Very disappointing experience.
