AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Would give 0 stars if I could. Took a year to complete and lost 2 buyers in the time due to delays. Had 3 different solicitors in the practise at that time. No one has a clue what is going on and they clearly don't communicate to each other. They forgot to pay the stamp duty and filled the paperwork incorrectly earning us a fine. Getting any sort of communication is next to impossible. 4 weeks after we've moved and we are still chasing to try and get things corrected. And thats all barely scratching the surface of the issues we've had. Clearly have taken on more work than they can handle and need to look at communication within the team. Absolutely shocking service and I hope you avoid and save yourself the stress and heartbreak of dealing with this practise. Disgusting treatment by the team in general even after complaining and trying to work with them to sort it out further issues keep croping up. Will now have to take time off work to discuss our complaint and to rectify everything they have done wrong. If you are already with the practise and it's not going well get out now it's really not worth it.

My case was originally with Kirsty but she left the firm without any warning to us. I was told my file would be passed to a team of people who would be dealing with it - I thought as a team was more than 1 person it would probably go through quicker - how wrong!! The team is made up of two conveyancers (Caroline) who I'm beginning to think is a made up person as I've never been able to speak to her ever (Emma) who appears to only deal with sales so has nothing to do with my purchase, a conveyancing assistant who always promises to get Caroline to ring me back or at least to do some work on my file but this never materialises, they just ask for more stuff instead of asking for it at the beginning altogether and then a secretary who no offence to but I don't want to speak to her if she is not qualified to do the work that needs doing but I speak to her several times a day cause its the only person reception girls can ever get to answer the phone! NOT MUCH OF A TEAM!! I understand Kirsty has left her workload however she has been left almost two months now so can't rely on this excuse forever! My purchase is so close to completion but I'm about to lose the house due to lack of ownership of the issues and very poor communication. It's too late for me but if you're considering using Hedleys I beg you to save yourself the stress and go elsewhere.

Hedleys&Co were recommended by our bank, and what followed was easily one of the most frustrating and distressing experiences we’ve ever had. We were assigned Kirsty, who—without exaggeration—has been the worst solicitor I have ever encountered. Unprofessional, disinterested, and unfit to carry the title. From the outset, communication was almost non-existent. Emails were treated like second-class post—if you were lucky to get a response within five days, it was a miracle. We spent weeks chasing updates. Even receiving the welcome pack turned into a saga—we had to drive over an hour to hand-deliver it because we genuinely didn’t trust that they’d received or actioned it. That’s how little faith we had in their processes. Kirsty rarely, if ever, responded to messages through the bank’s conveyancing portal, and when she did, it was after significant delays. There was zero transparency, no initiative, no clarity—just an exhausting slog through what should have been a manageable process. We ended up having to escalate a formal concern to our bank and later submitted a detailed complaint directly to the company partner, laying out a timeline of issues. It was only after this complaint that things started moving, which is both telling and disgraceful. What’s worse? When we visited the office to hand over the contracts—again, physically, just to be sure—Kirsty showed up, didn’t say hello, didn’t acknowledge the inconvenience or the issues, didn’t apologise. She looked utterly disinterested. No ownership, no remorse, no professionalism. A stressful process was made immeasurably worse by Kirsty’s appalling conduct and the firm’s sheer lack of urgency, empathy, or competence. It was a constant battle to get even the most basic communication. Absolutely Appalling Experience – Avoid Hedleys&Co at All Costs! This review is not written lightly—it is based entirely on our direct experience. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, and I sincerely hope our bank stops recommending Hedleys&Co. For anyone considering them: don’t. Save yourself the distress and go elsewhere. This firm is not worth your money, your time, or your peace of mind.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Absolutely diabolical. My son went through Hedleys for his recent house purchase. First time buyer, no chain and the house was vacant due to the seller going into care. Absolutely no communication what so ever. Never answer the phone, return calls or respond to emails. Asking for the same documents to be sent weeks after they were already sent. It dragged on so long the sellers solicitors tried to contact them to find out what the delays were, no surprise they didn't get a reply. Currently been going on for months with no end in site, for a vacant house with no chain.
