Reviews
My Wife and I recently had our new wills written by Hugh James and we were extremely impressed with the brilliant service, from the first phone, the information we received prior to the phone call appointment. We had a date and time prearranged to carry out the requirements we wanted, the lady who help with that was very friendly and professional, giving good advice. I feel the way the wills are written, are the way we wanted. Stating precise wording . That we understand I have wills written in the past that I didn’t know what I’d left to who. I highly recommend this company. 10/10
I did a so-called no-win-no-fee action with Hugh James for Clinical Negligence against an incompetent GP that caused me to suffer peripheral neuropathy. Like most solicitors, they moved at the pace of an asthmatic snail on valium. Endless emails and DocuSigns followed. I must say though that they did use a good counsel and their GP expert was okay. However, the problem was the very grand expert witness neurologist they engaged, a Dr Oliver Foster of Harley Street. He turned out to also be a great de facto witness for the defence by producing a Condition & Prognosis Report which effectively sabotaged my case. He suggested my symptoms might be partly psychological and it was possible I already had underlying neuropathy before I the took the stupid drugs the GP prescribed. Colchicine is defined as "extremely toxic in overdose". But NHS Resolution must have loved his report. So, mainly because of him I ended up accepting a derisory offer from the NHS - £7500. I had already spent nearly £6000 on consultants and drugs trying to stop the neuropathy. So that was £1500 for three long stressful years of litigation.
The commercial property department in the Cardiff office have achieved successful outcomes for three major financial transactions in my life. Over the course of five years, Richard, Natalie and Jess have consistently been responsive and proactive at the moments where it matters most, with a successful outcome with even the worst of external factors. My personal mentality is to remain non formal and friendly- they happily mirrored this, but on rare occasions where a firm stance was needed it was a delight to see them activate solicitor-mode and bust out with formal documents against oppressing parties. Don't let the slow onset fool you- once your case is fully in their sights they most certainly have your back.
I was supported by Abigail Jones within the Family department for a very emotive and stressful case. Not only did she facilitate professional advice which gave me the outcome desired, she also supported me emotionally. Her warm and confident temperament meant I felt in the safest of hands in what was one of the most stressful experiences. Always quick to respond, she was readily available and explained things thoroughly when needed. Abigail has the perfect balance of care and professionalism. I would whole heartedly recommend her to anyone needing support with a Family issue.
Unprofessional in being non-communicative, as per many emails below. I emailed them on 28 Jan, with an enquiry as to whether they could handle this kind of case, and followed up with emails on 30 and 31 Jan to check they had received my emails as the matter was quite urgent. Today, nearly two weeks later, zero response from them. I'm a retired solicitor - in every firm I've ever worked in, including one of the largest nationwide practices in England & Wales, we would always acknowledge receipt of a communication, as a matter of courtesy at the very least, even if to say sorry we couldn't help. Can't recommend this firm from the word go for that reason - gives the profession a bad name to present itself this way.
