Unprofessional, irresponsible and improper behaviour. I run a small, limited company and Paul has been my accountant for a couple of years. I asked Paul to help me understand the taxation of my limited companies so I could understand my tax bill. He explained it in a jargon laden unclear way that I found difficult as someone who is also not an accountant to understand. I asked him on more than one occasion to explain as it was still unclear. He became demonstrably irritated and did not hide his exasperation and frustration which I found quite inappropriate and rude. He then wrote to me and said because of my “attitude” to him and his staff that he was resigning as my accountant. He decided NOT to phone me or email me notice of resignation despite all our communication being by email or telephone. He sent the letter to my registered address which I visit sporadically so was totally unaware of the resignation. Even if I had seen the letter, he only gave me 20 working days in which to a) find another accountant b) to gather all the information from him c) to communicate with HMRC to gain their authorisation codes and d) for the new accountant to spend not an inconsiderable amount of time preparing, checking and submitting company accounts. I have repeatedly asked him what he means by my “attitude” and has never once explained it. Due to his actions I have been fined by HMRC and have had notice from Companies House that my company is to be stuck off and dissolved! This has resulted in my credit with a parts supplier being cancelled and losing business. He has cost me a lot of lost time, stress and money the very OPPOSITE of what an accountant should be! Avoid this accountant at all costs.

Paul has been my accountant for over 30 odd years. He is an excellent accountant and really knows his stuff. Nothing is too much trouble and he completes any work in a timely manner. He is approachable and a great guy. I highly recommend Paul and his team.
