We used Julie West Solicitor when selling our house. We started out with Len Boreland (Solicitor), who have dealt with our family for years. really was instrumental both in a professional & personal manner. Unfortunately had to hand over to other colleagues before our sale was completed. Welcome to Shima who took over. Shima was brilliant, she was consistent and patient, kept us informed throughout. Have used Julie West Solicitors on 2 or 3 occasions and they have always been professional and efficient. Would definitly use again. The solicitors I ahve used are Celia Parry (now retired, I believe), and Shima Kavakand. Both excellent.

This was one of the most stressful and unpleasant experiences I have ever had from a professional company. Communication was consistently poor, and my solicitor, Julie West was, in my experience, rude and extremely difficult to deal with. Deadlines were repeatedly missed, and delays meant that the case dragged on far longer than it ever should have. The final costs were also significantly higher than the estimates we were given at the outset. I escalated the matter to the Legal Ombudsman, who concluded that the service we received was not reasonable and awarded us £4,500 in compensation. They also confirmed in writing to me that they ‘have made a misconduct referral to the SRA’, the firm’s regulators. I also intend to submit my own referral. Everything in this review is based on my direct experience, documented correspondence and the Ombudsman’s official findings. If you are considering instructing this firm, I would strongly advise getting every estimate, timescale and expectation confirmed in writing before you proceed. Despite the independent findings of the Legal Ombudsman, I anticipate a response from the firm to this review, true to previous form. However, information pertaining to the judgement will shortly be publicly accessible.

We have built a fantastic relationship with Emma Westsmith and her team at Julie West Solicitors as they have dealt with the estate of my late mother and then helped us with life planning preparing wills and trusts. They are a great team highly experienced in all aspects of law that we have required their help in and it has been great working with them. They will undertake all our legal requirements going forward. Nice to find a small firm that take the time and have the ability to address family issues during times of loss.
