After 3 long years of seeking appropriate help, we received the best recommendation possible…the contact details for Jo and her O’Sullivan Family Law practice. My ex and I were seeking what we had thought to be a pretty simple and straightforward separation; we weren’t married, but we had been together for almost 20 years, and had two late teen sons. We had together, very amicably, reached an agreement that was to my benefit, unquestionably, but took all sorts of other aspects into account in us reaching that decision. We had hoped we could just simply get one solicitor to sign it all off. But not so. What we hadn’t anticipated was that, unless you are seeking a 50/50 separation, you come across all kinds of stumbling blocks. However, as if sent from above, Jo was handed to us. Her guidance was concise, thorough, swift and, above all else, very warm and supportive. After just a few quick months, Jo has done everything she could to make the process pain-free and simplified into layman’s terms and thankfully we are now at the very end of the process. Both my ex and I are very grateful for everything she has done to support the two of us in achieving a successful separation in a very compassionate way. Thank you Jo!
I have received excellent service from O'Sullivan Family Law. Jo took the time to fully understand my problems, concerns and desired outcomes. If I needed to speak to her and she was not available she would always call back. I found her calming when I was agitated. Jo was professional, knowledgeable and successful. I have no hesitation in recommending her and her practice.
Lets be honest, divorces are no fun, but Jo's warm, no nonsense, practical approach made it so much easier. I felt like an individual, and not a cog in the machine. Don't plan on getting divorced again, but I'd recommend her to anyone.
I attended 2 sessions of mediation with Jo O'Sullivan, in the hope further legal proceedings could be avoided. Unfortunately it didn't turn out so and I partly attribute to how these sessions were run. In the 2 sessions I attended, I made all sort of concessions while the other side made none. The first time I resisted to concede further, Jo litterally snapped at me and was incredibly aggressive and rude for absolutely no good reason. I don't understand how this approach can lead to mediation between any parties. The sessions were also run poorly. It took months to find a free slot when Jo was available, and even then, one session was posponed and this was communicated one hour before the start, and the other one was cut short 15 min. Given the effort required to arrange this and the cost of one session, I don't find this acceptable. I will not reccomend this legal practise.
Jo is a highly professional, perceptive and non-biased practitioner - I truly believe had we found her earlier, our separation and divorce would have been far less painful and our relationship may even have been saved. Using mediation and working collaboratively, Jo worked really hard to understand the underlying issues causing dispute and driving our behaviour and decisions. Though sensitive to our individual emotions she appropriately challenged any misconceptions and misunderstandings we had and was invested in finding a middle ground that worked in everyone’s best interests. Though not out of the woods yet her advice and support has been invaluable and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone considering or currently separating.
