Reviews
First time I’ve used this solicitor for my case and felt it necessary to leave a review because it has set me back 5 months and has caused financial hardship. I chose this firm because on the outside it looked like a competent well established firm in the city. After they agreed to take my case on and upon receipt of payment for approximately 4 hours of work in their eyes, I trusted my case would be dealt with swiftly and concluded in satisfactory time scale. After a few weeks had past, I emailed to get a progress update to which I did not receive a reply. I waited a few days and decided to call their office to be told the senior partner would review the case and I’d be contacted with their assessment. No call came. A few months have passed and I make another call for an update and put my foot down to establish whether any actual work has been done on my case to which their response was no. In 5 months they did zero work with zero communication. Now in any service sector industry, there is a degree of communication and professionalism and at £240 an hour they failed to provide any of the above. I managed to get my money from them after I complained and even that took a week. They apologised by saying “sorry for the service”. Service!!! You didn’t actually provide any…. Don’t take a case on and leave clients hanging! You’ve added an unnecessary 5 months to someone’s problems which remain unresolved. From this experience, I wouldn’t recommend this firm for any work….
Avoid these Solicitors – Incompetent and Unprofessional I strongly advise against using these solicitors. They lack basic knowledge of their own field and are completely incapable of handling cases effectively. Instead of providing proper legal guidance, they waste both time and money while failing to address key issues. Their team consists of unqualified individuals who produce poor-quality work and offer no meaningful support to help clients understand their legal matters. When they reached the limit of their (very limited) expertise, they abruptly terminated my case, leaving me at a significant financial loss. Their only response was an empty apology—because they didn’t even understand the basics of their profession. Due to their negligence and incompetence, I will be taking formal action against them, as I have clear evidence of their failure. If you have also been negatively impacted by their services, feel free to reach out and learn about my next steps to hold them accountable. Avoid this firm at all costs—you deserve competent, professional legal representation, not a team that doesn’t even understand the basics of their own work.
I was very happy with the help I received from Millie regarding my litigation case with a builder. She was very professional and friendly. I was kept up to date and she was only a phone call away if I had any questions. I would definitely recommend Samuel Phillip Law.
Poor Conveyancing Service I recently purchased a house and was recommended Samuel Philips Law by my mortgage advisor. Initially, the process seemed smooth and efficient. However, I encountered significant issues that were highly disappointing. A week before exchanging contracts, I received the invoice and was surprised to find an additional charge of approximately £900 beyond the initial quote. This extra cost was never communicated to me during the process, which was both unexpected and frustrating. Additionally, I received an email with what was supposed to be all the necessary documentation a week before the completion date. While reviewing the documents, I discovered several were missing. Despite promptly requesting the missing documents, I only received them three days before the completion date, causing unnecessary stress. Due to these issues, I cannot recommend Samuel Philips Law. Their lack of communication and organization indicates a poor level of service.
Very poor service indeed. I called at their Low Fell office to request two simple amendments to my will by way of codicil. My address and name of executor to be altered. I was quoted £150 plus VAT which I thought was a tad high but verbally instructed them to proceed. Two weeks later I received a letter outlining their terms of business and asking for £250 plus VAT plus an administration fee +VAT ie £306 to be paid before they commence the codicil. The firm in the initial meeting retained the original will.Upon phoning the firm to ascertain exactly what was going on I was very unimpressed with the reception I received and thus requested the firm to abort the codicil drafting as I would go to another solicitor. I was then informed that I could not have my will back as they did not have proof of my address. Ridiculous as they had just written to me.Shocking service.
