We were recommended Thatcher & Hallam for conveyancing by our estate agent. My partner contacted them to instruct them on a Thursday and didn’t receive a response until the following Tuesday. When they did reply, the response was unhelpful. A week later, we still hadn’t heard anything further, aside from a slightly snotty email saying they were busy and asking us not to contact them. Not a great impression. As of today, they still haven’t come back to confirm. As a result, our buyer was left waiting over a week for us simply to confirm basic conveyancer details for the memorandum of sale. This made us look disorganised and could easily have put our sale at risk. The estate agent who originally recommended them ultimately advised us to abort and go elsewhere. The new conveyancer they recommended replied and got it sorted within an hour - and even replied out of office hours. If they can’t be bothered to respond at the very start of the process, I dread to think how responsive they would be during the actual conveyancing. We also made it clear that we had another sale and a purchase coming up, so they’ve effectively lost out on two sales and a purchase due to being so slow, unprofessional and unresponsive in even getting themselves instructed. I’d strongly recommend avoiding them and choosing another firm that actually wants new conveyancing customers. EDIT: Following reply, to confirm this was not over a bank holiday as the firm suggests in their reply to this review. Even if it was, one day does not excuse over a week of delay. Please just accept responsibility for your poor administration gracefully.

Exceptional Service from Hayley Wakefield at Thatcher & Hallam Hayley was absolutely brilliant throughout what turned out to be a very long and stressful house sale and purchase. The process took over a year and nearly collapsed several times due to buyers dropping out and poor solicitors further down the chain, but Hayley was consistently excellent. She is professional, approachable, and explains everything in plain English, which made things so much easier to understand. Hayley always responded quickly and was at the end of the phone whenever I needed clarification or reassurance. Her calm, proactive approach kept everything moving when it could have fallen apart. I would highly recommend Hayley Wakefield to anyone seeking reliable and professional legal support for property transactions.

Hayley Wakefield at Thatcher and Hallam was recommended to be by family following their positive experience with her. I used Hayley for the purchase of my new house and she was fantastic from start to finish. Great communication, proactive, professional but also approachable. I have had experience with a number of other conveyancers before moving to the area, and none of them come close to the service from Hayley and the Thatcher and Hallam team.

We're the buyers solicitor for my house sale. They were extremely slow in every aspect. Took 2-3 weeks to reply to any of my solicitors emails. Only looked at the fixtures and fittings form and questioned it (they received 2 months prior) just as we were pressing to complete. Claimed to have not had responses from my solicitors, despite seeing email evidence they received them the same day. If you want your house move to drag on and on, I filully recommend these solicitors.
