My family and I entered into a difficult situation in April of 2024. When faced with the scary situation of court action we needed a barrister to assist in our defence. It all happened very quickly and we didn't know which way to turn. After receiving a recommendation to speak with Walnut House Chambers we were put in touch with Lara Spencer. After a quick exchange of information and a few phone conversations, Lara made us all feel incredibly at ease. Whilst you can not take away the issue of court proceedings, having someone who describes the whole process succinctly and with knowledge makes the situation feel manageable. Lara really did take away the fear factor of court proceedings and created a successful outcome for us. We will always be grateful for everything Lara and her team did for us. Get Lara Spencer on your side. She was phenomenal - her knowledge, insight and advice was always spot on and having someone who really knows their stuff and prepares well was invaluable. I had randomly sought her legal opinion and then decided to instruct her as a litigant in person instead of using a solicitor. She worked very hard, was always easy to contact and gave me excellent guidance, as well as keeping my morale up in the face of a slippery opponent. In general anyone wanting a realistic assessment of their case would be wise to consult a direct access barrister first. I hope I don't have any more litigation in my life but if did I would be straight back to Lara. I also recommended Lara to someone else and she very thoroughly and effectively delivered for them too.

I used Walnut House Chambers as a litigant in person to provide me with a barrister for a property dispute, a case which lasted for 18 months and which I won. I was recommended to them by a number of solicitors at one of the top law firms in London. I found Bernard Hayward, the Practice Manager, to be organised, professional and always available whenever issues arose. He carefully considered my case and was exceptionally kind and understanding about my situation and my position as a litigant in person trying to fight a case without a solicitor. As a litigant in person with no legal background I found Lara Spencer to be a fabulous barrister. Knowledgeable and highly qualified, she was very patient and helpful in guiding me through my case to its successful finish. She was prepared to go the extra mile and was consistently supportive and helped explain and guide the case through the court process. I am sure I couldn’t have done it without her.
