As mentioned by several other reviewers - FLA made this process as smooth and decent as any divorce / custody proceeding can be. I dealt with several people through the process, Lucy initially and then, being well aware of financial constraints, when she felt there were tasks that could be handled by others at a different price point, she made the appropriate shifts, but always kept a close eye on proceedings. They also helped with recommending very competent Barristers when the time came, so I felt like I was in safe-hands. It was a foreign process to me, and Lucy was fantastic at explaining the various steps and outcomes that were possible, and the most likely outcome given my situation, and that helped me to come to terms with the situation, rather than expect the unrealistic. She was also keen to challenge the norm (not just accept the 50:50 split in a divorce as some solicitors I spoke to were) when things could be challenged appropriately. I felt that they also had a brilliant manner, responsive when needed, and supportive throughout. Thank you all, especially you Lucy, for all the help. It's really appreciated. Also - one thing to note - whilst the cost of proceedings are high, the pace that proceedings move is slow, meaning there is a spread of costs over a 12+ month period, which means it's not quite so painful as if you picture the total amount coming out all at once. If I'd realised that before the process started I might have been a little less scared of the finance aspect of the custody / divorce proceedings.

I came to Family Law Associates at the beginning of my divorce and they could not have been more helpful and supportive (from the reception staff to the accounts payable as well as my actual solicitor). They made a very painful process bearable and they were very knowledgeable and realistic. No question was too trivial and they always replied quickly. When I had to come back to them on a point, they just ran with it, as if 2 years hadn’t gone by. I can’t thank them enough.
