We first appointed Andy to handle probate and administration for my late grandmother’s estate. We found him to be extremely professional and efficient. Following his referral, we worked with Dominic for the conveyancing of her house. Despite a couple of hiccups during the sale, Dominic has been incredibly patient with us and provided thorough, practical advice throughout. More recently, Andy is in the process of drafting wills for myself and partner. Across all matters, the service has been excellent and great value. It’s refreshing to have local solicitors nearby who offer a personal service in an age of online portals and automated replies. We’ll definitely continue working with them in the future for any legal needs.

I contacted Andy Norton to get a Will put in place. I was really impressed with the service. He was professional, knowledgeable, and made the whole process very straightforward. Everything was handled efficiently and clearly explained throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

Our experience with Holden Smith has been extremely poor. We were repeatedly asked to resend documents, given unclear instructions, and even told to contact the buyer’s solicitor ourselves, which defeats the purpose of hiring them. Delays on their side forced us to chase constantly and even liaise directly with the buyer to prevent the sale from collapsing. Communication was terrible. Our onward solicitor received no reply from Zain regarding move dates and asked us to chase instead. He then started moving things forward without liaising with our onward solicitors, leaving the estate agent to confirm balances. When Zain went on holiday, we were passed to Tom, but things only got worse, Holden Smith held up the process by not sending funds to our onward solicitor. When we called, Tom sounded unprepared and unbothered, and despite follow-up emails and calls, we received no meaningful updates. This lack of care caused us to be five hours behind schedule on completion day. To make matters worse, Holden Smith said they would get back to us about our complaint, but they never did. Overall, we ended up doing much of the work ourselves and dealing with the stress of mistakes, delays, and poor communication. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend them.
