Avoid at all costs. We used New Homes Law for both the sale of our flat and the purchase of our new home. While the transactions were completed, the experience was extremely frustrating throughout. Our assigned solicitors were consistently unresponsive, phone calls went unanswered, and we had to chase for every update. On exchange day, they forgot to send us the contact to sign prior so that was also another stress to find a witness to sign the document at 3pm in order to exchange that day. We didn’t receive our final bill until the day of completion, which added unnecessary stress, especially as the total was higher than expected. On top of that, the Help to Buy repayment amount was incorrect, leaving us to scramble for an extra £1,000 on completion day. After completion, we continued to chase them for the service charge reimbursement from the flat sale, as they forgot about this aspect! Despite selling in February, we didn’t get any response until May, only after we threatened to file a complaint. We were then told that pursuing the service charge with the new owner might “bring up old issues,” and they promised to chase the management company instead. That was on June 23rd, and we’ve heard nothing since. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism made a stressful process far worse. Honestly, it’s just not worth the hassle.
A shambolic and deeply frustrating experience – avoid Communication was appalling from start to finish. Getting hold of anyone required multiple calls, emails went largely unanswered, and the only way to move things forward was to chase constantly by phone. They did get the job done within four months, but the amount of chasing required was ridiculous. We faced basic but serious mistakes: a sales contract that mixed my partner’s surname with the buyer’s first name, the wrong purchase price on our contract, and key documents not being sent to our seller’s solicitor despite assurances that they had been. Our assigned solicitor was knowledgeable, but it was clear he was overstretched and unsupported. His senior cover, meanwhile, was unprofessional, rude, and emotionally volatile on calls. After a couple of unpleasant interactions, we avoided her entirely. Buying our first home should have been exciting. Instead, this firm managed to drain all the joy out of the process. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.
I wouldn't personally use them again. Quite unresponsive and it seems their staff turnover is quite high as i was dealing with a different individual on most occasions. Their costs are also a lot higher than their initial quote so be very mindful being reeled in by a cheaper quote. I did eventually deal with Preya at the end of the purchase who was helpful.
Biggest regret of my life using New homes law! Rude, incompetent never answered the phone or reply to emails. Failed to inform me my solicitor Nancy left the business now I'm stuck with a man Luke im doubtful exists. Well past completion dates and nobody will help not even the client experience manager or director Claire who was surpose to support with Nancy's cases. Everything they mention in their customer Charter they have failed me as a client to do, my chain is about to fall through due to NHL and I will be reporting them to SRA and the ombudsman. I encourage everyone else to do the same as they can't continue to treat paying customers this way and ruin major events in there lives, I'm thousands of pounds out of pocket already and this could of all been avoided if they knew how to reply to buyers and vendors and follow basic industry standards. Avoid at all costs! Response to NHL reply: maybe try and give an accurate email address for customer care as .so.uk isn't one! Perfect example of new homes law attention to detail.
The WORST company I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Currently dealing with a purchase. We have complained multiple times and it’s like they don’t care - I’ve never seen anything like it. They don’t tell us any information that they receive or telephone conversations they have with the other side in the matter. They didn’t tell us there was a problem with the lease which should have been flagged at the beginning of the process. They don’t follow our instructions. They seem incapable of even writing coherent emails. This has been going on for 6 months. They NEVER answer emails, the phone rings out and is barely ever answered. Quick to send emails asking for money though. Avoid at all costs. Absolutely cowboys.
