Reviews
I purchased a property before through Rogers and Norton. Claire was my contact and she was excellent. So when deciding to move house we didn't hesitate to contact her. Once again she has given an outstanding service throughout our work with them. Fantastic and timely communication throughout. I wouldn't hesitate to use her again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a professional, reliable and quality service. Thank you Claire for making the whole process run smoothly.
I used Rogers & Norton partly as they have a city centre office which makes it easy to drop in any urgent documents. Apart from that I found Claire was superbly calm and professional throughout a lengthy house purchase that involved unexpected twists and turns as well as negotiating from the other side of the globe at times. Definitely a 5 star service.
I’d give R&N a solid 4 out of 10, and honestly, that’s me being generous—kind of like when you give a toddler’s drawing a “Wow, amazing!” even though it really just looks a bit like a potato with legs. I chose 3 stars only because we got there in the end and he didn't make any huge mistakes Communication was mostly slower than a dial-up connection in 1999. I get that it was a busy time with the stamp duty deadline approaching, but come on—acknowledging an email with a quick “Got it!” isn’t exactly Olympic-level effort. At least half my emails went unanswered and most promised call backs didn't happen. Being repeatedly ignored is rude, unprofessional and infuriating Steve Clarke, with all his experience, should have been steering this ship like a seasoned captain, but instead, it felt like he occasionally glanced at the map and hoped for the best. He even forgot to tell his (I suspect long suffering) legal secretary about plans to exchange and complete—imagine her surprise when she found out the day before. To be fair, they weren’t the absolute worst in the chain—there was a truly terrible conveyancer above them that made them look good by comparison. But that’s like saying a bad haircut isn’t so bad because someone else got a dodgy mullet against their will. Not the worst, but definitely not great. If you enjoy waiting, guessing, worrying and occasional bursts of confusion, Steve at R&N might be the perfect choice for you
Its been a few years since my sale but a recent call with a friend brought it all back. Process only seemed to move when R&N were chased. Feels like I'd still be waiting now if I hadn't. Calls would go to Michelle then her "secretary", likely my real coneyancer, who would try and put me through (always failed) then would ask me to leave a message. I later found out their desks were opposite each other, so this was just an act: she knew Michelle's availability every time by sight but did this process each time anyway. First time buy with no chain and it took 5 months, and tonnes of stress. Agreed completion date just before their Xmas shutdown and agreed to come in with last forms etc at 1pm. Agreed this at 11am that day with Michelle. She then took a half day and left so was absent when I turned up! Contracts were witnessed by someone else. An appalling experience, right down to the last minute. Sorry the review is so late, but given how late R&N were for everything, I'll forgive myself.
