We engaged Setfords for the purchase of a new property and later the sale of another property. Initially communication was quick and polite however once the Letter of Engagement was signed, communication was non-existent unless we actively followed up. I can't recall a time when I rang and did not get redirected to voicemail. When the final documentation for the purchase did come through, there were several errors across the documents. We went back and forth 3 times on the same document pointing them out; their justification was "the system is tricky to navigate." In the end we were asked to make the corrections in black ink and return to them. During the sale of our property, abortive fees were added onto the final bill. We queried what these were and were happy to pay them following some clarification however the response we received was quite rude and patronising. A breakdown in the Letter of Engagement would be helpful so everyone is aware of the breakdown. Finally, upon completion, we were told the application of registration could take 6-12 months. As we approached the 11 month mark (following completion) we followed up (twice) via email to finally hear that the application for registration was completed and posted some 5 months back (which we never received). The solicitor did not seem concerned about the missing paperwork. In short, I would not recommended Setfords to anyone seeking a solicitor.

Well, where do we begin, we were first time buyers and the stress we went through in the past few months was colossal but Carol our lovely solicitor and assistant Codi put us at ease in these stressful times, assuring that all deadlines were met with extra care, we went through the auction process and had to complete within 56 days, so the time was limited and we were at risk of losing our reservation fee on our property that we bought if we did not complete on time, in the end we finished before our deadline and completed ahead of time before the end of the year, we are so grateful for Setfords and would recommend anyone for their services. We are grateful for our first home and will never forget the help!

Cannot fault the service we received from Matt Conroy at Setfords. As first time buyers Matt answered a lot of (silly?!) questions from us with patience and plain English language, and good humour. He was timely in his responses and easy to get hold of. We’re very grateful to Matt for getting us through this process in the timeframe we needed.
