The UK family visitor visa is essentially the same as the standard visitor visa, allowing foreign nationals to visit family members in the UK for up to 6 months. For instance, if your parents live abroad, they can apply for this visa to visit you in the UK. You can submit your application for a family visitor/standard visitor visa up to 3 months before your intended travel date to the UK.

What is the UK Family Visitor Visa?

​If you hold a current UK visa, like a work visa, study visa, or business visa, and you wish to bring your spouse or children to the UK for more than 6 months, they may qualify for a dependant visa. This visa allows your spouse/partner and/or children to stay in the UK for as long as your visa remains valid.

Eligibility requirements for a UK Family Visitor Visa

To be eligible for a UK family visitor visa, you must meet the following criteria:

• Possess a valid passport that covers the entire duration of your stay in the UK.
• Show evidence of your intention to leave the UK at the end of your visit.
• Have enough funds to support yourself and your dependants during your stay in the UK.
• Be able to pay for your return or onward journey.
• Not intend to live in the UK or make the UK your main home by making frequent or successive visits.
